Mid-tier design and construction firm with projects up to $100M is seeking a talented estimating intern for a 12 week internships. Reporting to the Contract Administrator and Senior Estimator, this Estimation Internship is the perfect opportunity to use BlueBeam and CostX for estimation works.

Overview

This Estimating Internship is suited to students and graduates from Civil Engineering or Construction Management degrees. Estimation is one of the ‘in demand’ areas for recent civil engineering graduates. An Estimation Internship is one of the best pathways into construction management. During this Estimation Internship, you will gain hands-on experience in costing, estimation, BOQs, and supplier management. You will also gain vital experience using software such as CUBIT and BlueBeam to manage estimation and Takeoffs for major projects. Start your career in civil engineering with an internship as a Junior Estimator.

Estimating Internship Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the coordination, and delivery of projects and supporting the Senior Estimator
  • Preparing Takeoffs using CUBIT and Excel
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, and project controls – including cost control
  • Assisting with Tender Submissions
  • Preparation and management of project documentation and reporting
  • Manage/administer project defects and the rectification process
  • Preparing and submitting project handover documents such as project certifications and operations & maintenance manuals
  • Liaising with Clients, Suppliers & Contractors to ensure successful delivery of residential and commercial projects

  • Learn the essentials of First Principle Estimating
  • Preparing quantity takeoffs and using estimating software such as CostX
  • Quote preparation using different software for commercial and residential projects
  • Tender submissions and the tendering process by attending tender meetings
  • Negotiations with suppliers and contractors to ensure costings are achieved
