Overview

Career Success Australia collaborates with 100+ structural engineering firms involved in structural projects such as bridges, city infrastructure and large-span structures. There is an opportunity for an entry-level structural engineering graduate to be a part of a team of talented design engineers for a 12 week internship to assist with the design and execution of different structural engineering projects.

Structural Engineering Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design and development across a variety of structural engineering projects including bridges, earth retaining structures, large span structures and civil infrastructure.
  • Managing site activities including construction phase inspections, structural assessments and draft plan edits.
  • Preparing structural engineering investigations and designs, performing site inspections and preparing site surveillance reports.
  • Liaising with supervisors, draftspersons, site managers, steel engineers, architects and other specialists to carry out designated tasks and manage the smooth delivery of projects.

What you will learn during your Structural Engineering Internship

  • Experience in the design of bridges of reinforced, pre-tensioned and post-tensioned concrete, steel, steel composite and timber construction.
  • Working knowledge of state road authority design criteria for bridges.
  • Technical report writing for clients and experience in using structural design codes and guidelines.
  • Scheduling and project managing residential and commercial projects
